Where do we stand after APS Attack?

It would not be wrong if we mark 16th December 2014 as black day for Pakistan. We should remember this day as national tragedy. One year is too less to dim the memory of APS attack. Sacrifice of APS children should not fade away. We need to be united to get rid of menace of terrorism and extremism.

Sacrifice of APS children bought Unity of nation that was never seen before. Peshawar APS attack made all Pakistanis as soldiers. Sentiments of national unity must continue. Civil military leadership acting unison to secure Pakistan. The nation got consensus on implementation of NAP.

APS Peshawar attack made us realize that education is a MUST for our children. Schools remained open after the attack and people got determined to educate their children. Darkness of extremism can be removed only through the light of education.

Improvement in law and order situation was seen after implementation of national action plan (that was approved after APS attack). NAP is working in right direction. There was 35% reduction in terrorist activities in urban areas and 20% Reduction in FATA.

4132 IBOs (Intelligence based operations) were conducted from December 2014 to July 2015. 4079 suspects were apprehended. Situation in Karachi has improved as well. There is reduction in target killings and ransom kidnappings in Karachi.

Economic progress is also being seen after implementation of NAP. KSE in 2014 was 31 billion but now in 2015 it is 57 billion. GDP growth rate increased from 4.03% to 4.24%.

Pakistan army is doing its job but lack of political has slowed down the required progress. Political will for action against terrorists’ apologists is the main areas that needs to be addressed. Awareness among masses is required to get required results in society because military action against terrorists is not the only factor to bring peace in Pakistan, collective efforts from masses is also need of time.

Terrorists showed their true face in this attack and nation got united on a point that there should be no space or room for barbarians. People should identify terrorists’ apologists in society and there should be zero tolerance for terrorists and their apologists.
